MaCHS - Highlights & Benefits

MaCHS has been developed to dramatically reduce the hours of administration all Maternal and Child Health nurses spend in producing monthly, quarterly and annual reports. MaCHS is designed to assist nurses in their daily record keeping tasks and free up more time to spend on consultations with children and parents.

Birth notices and enrollments, child consultations, parent consultations, counseling and referral details, hearing tests, immunisation details, first parent groups and much more is recorded in the database.

Highlights and Benefits:

  • Generates monthly and quarterly reports as well as the all important Annual Report - Estimated to save approximately 100 hours of administrative time per nurse per year
  • Generates Performance Indicators Reports - Immediate indication of consultation numbers, counseling & referrals, enrolments vs birth notifications etc.
  • Hearing test and consultation reminder letters - Eliminates the need for manually checking and issuing these notifications
  • Graphical reports issued for Breast-feeding, Birth Notifications and Enrolments - Gives immediate view of data through easy to understand graphs and allows further data analysis
  • Data entry through user-friendly Windows™ interface - Saves time and reduces the margin for error
  • MaCHS is configurable - Customise the menu system to suit each council’s individual needs
  • Percentile Charts facility - Charts can be automatically generated from the child consultation figures

The software design had direct input from Maternal and Child Health nurses and from the Department of Human Services, making it a system designed by nurses for nurses.

Reports are produced from a pre-defined reports menu or by designing custom reports using Microsoft Access. All statistics required by the Victorian Department of Human Services are recorded in MaCHS, so that producing the Annual Report is no longer a major task, it is simply the click of a mouse!

Effectively, MaCHS allows MCH nurses to spend their day helping clients and their children instead of filling in paperwork.

64 out of 78 municipalities in Victoria have chosen MaCHS as their preferred data collection software. If you would like to learn how MaCHS can help your MCH service, please contact DSI for further information.
