MaCHS - Training

DSI provides a series of instructor led, classroom style training courses aimed at ensuring all MaCHS users have a thorough knowledge of the software. These courses range from an introductory course, aimed at providing nursing staff and management with an overview of MaCHS, through to an extensive administration course for Information Technology staff. In order for all attendees to gain the maximum benefit from a class, DSI recommends classes be kept to a maximum of eight (8) students.

DSI provides the following training courses for MaCHS:

Initial Overview Training

The 2-hour Overview Training is optional, but most beneficial if the Council wishes to ‘Introduce’ the concept of moving to a computerised M &CH system and to fully demonstrate the software capabilities. The recommended audience is all nursing staff (permanent and relief) and other relevant Council staff (Administration and I.T.). This training takes the form of a presentation & demonstration and is a perfect forum for answering all questions about the program.

Detailed Training

This 4-hour instructor led training course is a must for all nurses and administration staff who will be using MaCHS. The Instructor will guide the students through a series of set exercises designed to teach all aspects of using MaCHS. At the completion of the course each nurse will have the skills to use MaCHS for all their daily activities.

For students not previously having any computer experience an half hour “Windows Introduction” will be structured into the beginning of the course, however, we highly recommend these students to attend an Introduction to Windows course prior to attending.

Administrator Training

This 4-hour instructor led training course does not require all nurses to attend, however it is mandatory for the M &CH Co-ordinator, the designated I.T. Support Representative, and the responsible Administration staff member.

At the completion of this course all attendees will be equipped with the skills to:

  • Install and configure MaCHS
  • Set Up and maintain the network configuration
  • Set Up and maintain the MaCHS menu system
  • Maintain database synchronisation

The instructor will guide the students through an Administrator Training Guide that can thereafter be used to assist with MaCHS administration. A supplementary document to this course is the MaCHS Installation Checklist (supplied when the software is purchased) that is a step-by-step guide to successfully installing and configuring MaCHS across the network.

Follow Up Training

The Follow Up training course has been designed as an opportunity for all attendees of the Detailed Training course to discuss any questions (operational or functional) that may arise through using MaCHS in a live environment.

The recommended audience is anyone who has attended the Detailed Training course.

MaCHS Access Training

For ultimate ease-of-use DSI designed MaCHS with a Microsoft Access database. By using a well known, industry standard database, MaCHS allows users to design their own reports to supplement the standard pre-determined reports within the software.

DSI offers a 2-day instructor led training course designed to teach users how to create Access queries & reports using the MaCHS database. The recommended target audience is M &CH Co-ordinators and/or Administrators and/or IT support personnel who have a good working knowledge of the MaCHS database.

This two-day course is conducted periodically (or on demand) at a professional training centre in Queen Street Melbourne and is facilitated by DSI. Each course can accommodate up to eight students.

If you wish to discuss any of these courses in more detail please contact DSI for further information.
